About
the Group
Brasilia
is an outstanding Brazilian jazz group that features the
extraordinary and versatile vocals of Pamela Driggs and the
original compositions and arrangements of Ted Moore.
Together, Ms. Driggs and Mr. Moore first formed the idea for
Brasilia several years ago because of their enduring passion for
Brazilian music in general and bossa nova specifically. In their
first album for Kokopelli Records, River Wide, they created some of
the most sensitive and resourceful music of the Brazilian jazz genre
to come along in years.
Comprised
of three Brazilians and three Americans, Brasilia includes some of
the most acclaimed practitioners of this style of music anywhere.
The members of Brasilia have performed with a virtual who's who list
of artists in both the jazz and classical worlds, and have
performed at clubs and festivals around the country, including
the Blue Note in New York City and the Telluride Jazz Festival in
Colorado.

Pamela
Driggs (vocals)
Pamela
Driggs has performed throughout the United States and South
America, most often with her husband, Romero Lubambo.
She has also worked with other great Brazilian musicians
including Cesar Camargo Mariano, Nana Vasconcelos, Cyro
Baptista and Ivan Lins. A native of Northern Nevada, Pam was
hooked on bossa nova at an early age, and is now considered
"one of the best new voices in jazz" by legendary
musician and producer Herbie Mann. JazzIz magazine agrees, and
says
her remarkable voice expresses the "bittersweet edge of
the Brazilian style with deft perfection and a natural ease
that's totally disarming."
